Yeah, it made sense to me too. In fact we'd been talking about it for a long time, going "Wouldn't it be funny if..." And saying how he should take a test.
It kind of makes me realize how much about autism I don't know, and how much the scientific community doesn't know. Specifically, how the causes of autism are either environmental or genetic or a combination of both - will my babies be autistic? I know he's not technically diagnosed and it really won't change our daily lives, but I'll definitely have more questions to ask when I start doing the pre-natal thing.
Honestly, babe, the autism thing is a big black box. Especially when it comes to genetics, no one's sure. I don't think anyone knows really about how it goes on in genetics, so the baby question might be unanswered, sad to say.
Some say it's vaccines (recently proven false, btw), some say it's environment. But the latest theory is that it's just what my mother calls a 'variation of normal' of the human brain; that is, it's just the human body's different quirks. Just like how no fingerprint is the same, no person is the same, no person's brain is the same. It's an idea like that. I happen to agree with this idea, btw.
But for CJ, you might want to ask him some questions about sensitivities - light, sound, taste, touch, sight. Usually those are pretty clear in terms of relating on whether or not CJ's high-functioning or with one of the PDDs.
i have incredibly sensitive eyes, i hate being touched by nearly anyone (i warmed up to gina), sounds... don't get me started (like that noise that tv's make that older people can't hear?_?), i have a sensitive nose, and certain tastes (and food textures) can drive me insane. what are pdds?
